Youth Planning Retreat 2009
Annually the Youth Director of Central Jamaica Conference along with the federation officers meet at the A.Y Planning Retreat to discuss the activities of the year and make plans for the upcoming year. The retreat was held on
December 5 and was very successful, our objectives were met and our plans set to be realized. The areas of focus were administration, outreach/evangelism and programmes for 2010.
The Decided theme for 2010 is “Obsessed With His Thinking”, in fulfilling the mandate given to us by our redeemer we must adapt His Lifestyle, His Mission and His Thoughts. The theme was chosen based on the belief that if we become in sync with Christ, we will unquestionably fulfill His mission. Rally cry ‘ Let the Mind of the Master, be the Master of the Mind’.
Theme song 2010
Think about His love, think about His goodness
Think about His grace that's brought us trough
For as high as the heavens above
So great is the measure of our father's love
Great is the measure of our Father's love
So great is the measure of our Father's love
How could I forget His love
And how could I forget His mercies
He satisfies, He satisfies, He satisfies my desires
Think about His love, think about His goodness
Think about His grace that's brought us trough
For as high as the heavens above
So great is the measure of our father's love
Great is the measure of our Father's love
Great is the measure of out Father’s love
- It was noted that a need for a more intimate participation is required from the pastors, elders local ay and the church members at large to become one with the youth.
- Recommendations were made to unite the Manchester federation to its original form, to ensure top performance at all times.
- The St. Catherine federations were experiencing some difficulties in mobilizing the youth in its constituency; hence, the following changes will be made in 2010. The federation will comprise of three (3) Zones; 1. North St. Catherine (Linstead Zone) 2. Central St. Catherine Zone (Spanish Town, Kitson Town and Old Harbour) 3. South Zone (Portmore). A constituency rally will be held to effect this change.
- The gap between the youth and elders is an obvious one and we are actively seeking to find ways in which we can bridge that gap, it was keenly noted that the programmes needed more spiritual emphasis to magnetize the seniors.
- In 2010 we will seek to launch the S.D.A Clubs in schools to facilitate the Adventists youth and teachers in the schools across Jamaica. This programme is designed to provide mentorship and create an extra curricular activity.
- As the church focuses on small group evangelism, the youth should not consider themselves left out. We seek to encourage each youth to take an active part in the small groups to win souls for the Kingdom of God.
· the move to revive the Advent fellowships in non tertiary institutions is of great importance, we recognize the need for these fellowships as a way of keeping the interest of the youth at an all time high.
· Youth Leaders are being reminded that materials are available at the Conference office to assist in the enhancement of your local church Programmes.
We were reminded that the purpose of the Federation is to assist the youth Director in disseminating information, to provide human and material resources for local A.Y. Societies and to assist in the training of the youth at all levels in the churches.
A recent survey was conducted and it was discovered that the concept of the youth federation was either lost or slowly dwindling, the responsibility has fallen on us to see to the revival of the youth federation and ensure it fulfills it’s purpose
